CKC 2022 Industry Forum

  • Purpose Industry experts, governments, research institutes and academic researchers from both countries will gather together to share information on the current status of industrial/trade cooperation between the two countries, establish a network and explore the possibility of cooperation.

  • Background of the program
    • Korea and Canada have maintained a long-standing cooperative relationship in the fields of industry and trade, and have been making steady efforts to promote bilateral trade since the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in 2014.

    • Both countries have been ranked among the world's top 10 largest economies, and thus cooperation can create great synergy.

    • It is important to facilitate and expand cooperation between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the two countries, and provide them with opportunities for market entry by sharing the current status and strategies of bilateral cooperation.

      • Business presentations to seek companies with technological competence
      • Information exchange and expansion of cooperation among companies


    • Canadian International Innovation Program (CIIP) Information Session

      - Format : Open to CKC attendees; “Canadian International Innovation Program (CIIP),” a bilateral joint R&D program for SMEs in Korea and Canada will be introduced.

      - Contents

      • Introduction of CIIP, which supports international joint R&D projects between Korean industry/academia/research institutes and Canadian R&D partners since 2017
      • Information exchange through success story presentations
      • Explore the possibility of international joint R&D


    • KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) Session

      - Format : Open to CKC attendees; KOTRA officials present opportunities to enter the Canadian market

      - Duration : 60 minutes (KOTRA presentation, followed by Q&A)

      - Participants : KOTRA presenters, CKC attendees including industry participants from Korea

      - Contents

      • Korea-Canada Trade relations : recent trends, CKFTA, forecast
      • Introduction of KOTRA and services which can be helpful to companies who have an interest in export to Canada


    • Korean Techno Park Session

      - Format : Open to CKC attendees
